Tropical Storm Lee, The Hurricane that Threatens Some of The American States Again

According to the latest official international weather forecasts, hurricane Irene has decreased in intensity, which doesn’t make it a threat anymore for the USA. However, the new tropical storm, called Lee, is starting to gain territory, heading toward Louisiana. It is highly believed that hurricane Lee will bring heavy rains to the state as early as Labor Day. Tropical moisture from Lee may ride up a storm front expected to reach our area by Monday, according to the National Weather Service, possibly bringing heavy rains to New Jersey from Monday to Wednesday. It was first believed that Lee will approach first New Orleans but the confidence that this tropical storm heads toward Gulf Coast, makes the citizens more hopeful that the consequences of this hurricane will not be very serious for this region. The National Weather Service in Slidell said parts of New Orleans received between 6 and 9 inches of rain between Thursday morning and Saturday afternoon, and that some coastal Mississippi areas reported more than 6 inches. Nearly 10 inches had fallen in Pascagoula, Miss. New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu said that “This storm is moving painfully slow,” advising the citizend not to go to sleep while hurricane Lee is present.
