Burj Dubai is part of a 2 kmp development named ‘Downtown Dubai‘ and it is placed at “First Interchange”, along Sheikh Zayed Road at Doha Street. It is expected to be about 2605 feet (808 meters) high by September when it is ready for being occupied. The tower, designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill the ones who designed the Sears Tower in Chicago, which it is expected to be 150% overcome, and the Freedom Tower in New York City, will have more than 56 elevators, boutiques, 160 floors, swimming pools, corporate suites, a Giorgio Armani hotel and a 124th floor observation platform.
It is structured in three parts around a central core. The highest part is based of the central core which rises up into the sky and is sculpted to form a finishing spire. The Y-shaped floor plan helps enjoying the Persian Gulf view better. The design of the highest building in the world, Burj Dubai, is mainly influenced from the Islamic architecture mixed with the pattern of the desert flower found in the area. The exterior side of the tower will be made from a reflective glazing with aluminum and textured stainless steel spandrel panels with vertical tubular fins of stainless steel.
The first Giorgio Armani Hotel will occupy the first 37 floors. Then, from floor no, 45 till floor no. 108 there will be 700 private apartments, which rapidly sold out, more precisely, within eight hours of going on sale. There will be also a swimming pool on the 78th floor. Moreover, the world’s fastest elevator will rise and descend at 18 m/s (65 km/h, 40 mph). No wonder that building higher and higher is not such a difficult aim to reach. ‘Al Burj’ (The Tower), also in Dubai, is planned to have around 3937 feet (1200 meters) high and 200 floors.
