Belgium is a small country located in Western Europe and most tourists usually visit its capital, Brussels, before heading out to discover its smaller cities, such as Antwerp, Bruges and Ghent. In my opinion, Ghent is the most appealing of them all. It is away from the hordes of tourists; it is more down to earth than Brussels, but at the same time it has all the charms of a medieval – cosmopolitan city. If you decide to visit Ghent, you should book flights to Brussels Airport, which is the nearest hub serving the city. Some of the most popular airlines which offer routes between Brussels and destinations in the USA, Europe and beyond are British Airways, United Airlines, Continental Airlines and Aer Lingus.

I had the wonderful chance to study in Ghent as it is one of the most popular university towns in Europe. Given that it has a high student population it is not surprising that it also has a lot of pubs and clubs. I know then all. However, one of my favourite (and I think most locals would agree) is Culture Club.

If you like somewhere classy, Culture Club is the place for you. You have to dress to impress at this venue and if you don’t you might not get in. This club is proud of its reputation and it wants to keep it that way. Here you can dance all night to the beat of electronic music. You can even book a room for a private party. The entrance on regular resident Saturday nights is €8 before midnight and €10 after. However, these prices may vary depending on the event. This is my favourite club in Ghent and a good excuse to get dressed up. You can check out the official website for information about the upcoming events.
