Paris Metro Network

If you’ve ever been to Paris after having booked an international flight, then you were most surely impressed by the great metro stations system. Besides the cheap flights available nowadays, this subway network in Paris or Métropolitain is made up from 16 lines, whose distance is for about 214 km. Moreover, there are 300 stations (384 stops), and 62 correspondence metro stations. Although they are 16 lines, in fact, there are basically only 14 lines, because the Paris Metro also has two minor lines, 3bis and 7bis. It is very easy to determine the direction you want to go to because each metro line in Paris is coloured differently and you can track the route inside the metro because each line is marked right above the doors. Paris has the second busiest metro system in Europe after Moscow.
The greatest metro and RER station in Paris is Châtelet-Les Halles. There are 5 metro lines meeting there in only one point together with the three RER lines. The history of the Paris Metro Network dates back to 1900 when the first line was inaugurated and byt the end of the First World War the core was already completed. However, new lines are being built in order to facilitate the passengers go through the city more rapidly. It is very important to keep in mind that the entire Paris Métro or Métropolitain system is divided into 5 zones or areas. If you want to go from zone 1 to zone 4, for instance, you have to pay a separate fare if you have only a 1-2 zones valid ticket. However, this is very clearly explained by the tickets machines available in all metro stations.
So, if we made you curious to experience a journey with the Métro de Paris, then don’t forget to buy the right ticket and … mind the gap!
