Oktoberfest 2011 in Germany

Oktoberfest 2011 will take place between September 17 and October, 3rd. This is the one of the most famous festivals in Europe and maybe in the world. There are more than 6 million visitors every year, eager to tasty from the wide variety of beers available in Munich, then eat the well-known sausages and brezel. The opening hours for Oktoberfest 2011 depend on the days of the week, for instance carnival and rides are open for the public on Monday to Thursday from 10 A.M. to 11.30 P.M., on Friday and Saturday from 10.00 A.M. to 12 A.M. and on Sundays and holidays from 10.00 A.M. to 11.30 P.M.
Schottenhamel” will be the first attraction of Oktoberfest 2011 let alone the fact that this is tent is among the 30 tents available for visitors. In “Schottenhamel” the official opening ceremony will take place right in the first day of the festival. It is very interesting to watch “Costume and Riflemen’s Parade“, an Oktoberfest parade which shows the history of Bavaria. As a tip, it is advisable to make a reservation in advance before your arrival at Oktoberfest because in the afternoon all tents tend to occupy, so you can be left out until somebody leaves. Beer prices at Oktoberfest 2011 will be someway the same with those from last year, for example, between 7.70 and 8 Euro per liter. Nonalcoholic drinks such as water and soda are cheaper, somewhere between 4 and 6 euros. However, try to take cash with you because paying with credit card in the tents is not available everywhere at the beer festival.
What is interesting and catchy at Oktoberfest is that children are welcome too. They will not be bored at all because they will take part in a lot of games, specially prepared for them, such as fun rides, Ferris wheels, roller coasters, music, and parades.
You might be curious to find out why Oktoberfest begins in September, this is due to the weather in Germany, which tends to be chilly in October, but the last weekend of this beer festival is still celebrated in the month bearing its name.
