This is a bar which not many tourists know about, so take note of Le Pick Clops if you are going on holidays to Paris. Having had the chance to live in Paris I don’t have any excuse for not coming across little hideaways like this one. Le Pick Clops is a 50s style bar located in the Marais and it is one of my favourite places in the city. Most people will find it rather kitsch, but I find the place fascinating. I love the neon lighting, and the mirrors and multicolour decor add to the charm and originality. Le Pick Clops opens early and closes late so you can go for breakfast, lunch, afternoon coffee, an evening meal or drinks. My favourite meal is the steak tartare, but the hamburgers and salads are also great. The portions are huge and the prices very reasonable….for Paris.
I also like the selection of drinks on offer. In the summer I used to go here in the evening for cocktails with friends before clubbing. In the winter we would all huddle round a table drinking vin chaud (mulled wine) chatting about uni, life in Paris and the future. Perhaps one downside is that in the evening the music can get quite loud, but it is still possible to chat. The vibes may not suit everyone, but don’t let this put you off. Trust me and check out this bar – the music is part of the package. Sometimes it is difficult to get a table at Le Pick Clops, particularly at the weekend.
If you want the true French experience, this is the place for you as it is always packed with locals. Everybody has to visit Paris at least once in life. It is one of those cities that you see everywhere. If you are thinking of travelling to Paris or if you have your airline tickets booked, remember to visit Le Pick Clops for the real Parisian atmosphere.
